Lykke Li - 'I Never Learn'

Lykke Li has announced her new album, I Never Learn, which is due out May 5:

Album of the Week (February 23 - March 1): St. Vincent - 'St. Vincent'

St. Vincent is the first solo release from St. Vincent since 2011's excellent Strange Mercy (There was a hit and miss collaboration with David Byrne between then and now as well).  The album is excellent from start to finish.  Her guitar work on here is fuzzier and crunchier than ever before which I rather enjoy.  The lyrical content throughout is pretty wild (which is the case with every St. Vincent album for the most part).  I would go as far as to say that this self-titled record is probably her most accessible work to date:

Throwback Album of the Week (February 23 - March 1): Shuggie Otis - 'Inspiration Information'

Released in 1974, Inspiration Information took Shuggie Otis three years to complete.  The album was the third and final album Otis released for his record label.  The album was released by major label Epic records who took issue with the amount of time it took to create the record and dropped Otis from the label.  After the release of the record Otis declined the opportunity to work with Quincy Jones and also declined the opportunity to play in the Rolling Stones backing band on an upcoming tour.  After the release of Inspiration Information, Shuggie Otis would rarely release any music, basically disappearing from the public eye.  Last year, this album was re-released with a second disc of tracks Shuggie had been working on from 1975 to 2013 (the second disc was title Wings of Love):

Dorsal Fins - "Fell"

Melbourne's Dorsal Fins have released the new track "Fell" off their upcoming Gripless 12" which is due out April 3:

Touch Sensitive - "Slowments"

Here is a new one from Sydney based record label Future Classics.  Touch Sensitive released the "Pizza Guy/ Show Me" Single last year and has now returned with this new track, "Slowments":

Blackbird Blackbird - "Hold On"

I discovered Blackbird Blackbird probably three years ago when I was going through a huge Turntable.fm (R.I.P.) phase.  People in the "Ambient/Chillout" room on that website were playing a lot of Blackbird Blackbird's music.  I haven't really heard a whole lot of his stuff since then, but here is a new track titled "Hold On":

Fear of Men - "Luna"

"Luna" is the first single taken from the upcoming Fear of Men record, Loom, which is due out April 22.

IDҰLL - "Trouble"

Here is the first track from Chicago duo, IDҰLL.  "Trouble" is an excellent track that manages to create a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere.  The group will be releasing their debut album 1 later this year:

Shamir - "If It Wasn't True"

Here is the first track I have heard from 19-year-old Las Vegas native, Shamir.  He will be releasing this track as the A-side of his Godmode debut later this year:

Evian Christ - "Waterfall"

"Waterfall" is the second track released by Evian Christ off his upcoming Waterfall EP, which is due out March 17:

Tei Shi - "Nevermind In the End (Saint Pepsi Remix)"

Hey, we have our second remix of the month of Tei Shi's excellent track, "Nevermind In the End."  This one comes from another frequently mentioned artist on this blog, Saint Pepsi.  Enjoy:

Stream Real Estate's New Album 'Atlas' (via iTunes radio)

The first two single off the new Real Estate record Atlas were posted on this blog earlier this year.  There were also some songs debuted off the album live a few weeks back.  Now we have a stream of the full album, which is due out next Tuesday.  Stream the album courtesy of iTunes music here.

Ava Luna - "PRPL"

Brooklyn's Ava Luna have returned with the track "PRPL."  This is the first track I've heard from the band since their 2012 debut, Ice Levels.  The track is a bit slower than the majority of that record and is an all around impressive track:

River Tiber - "Atlantis"

Here is a track from Toronto based singer/songwriter River Tiber titled "Atlantis."  This is the first piece of music I've heard of this artist, but this is definitely a promising start:

FKA Twigs & Inc.

Fresh off a year in which both of these artists released excellent records (FKA Twigs - 'EP2' & Inc.- 'no world'), FKA Twigs and Inc. have teamed up to release a limited collaborative 7" (available here).  This is one of the tracks off the EP (as far as I can tell the track is untitled):

Cloud Nothings - "Psychic Trauma"

Cleveland's Cloud Nothings have released the second track off their upcoming album Here and Nowhere Else (out April 1 in the US and March 31 in Europe and the UK).  The track is titled "Pyschic Trauama":

The Horrors - "I See You"

The Horrors have announced Luminous their follow-up to 2011's Skying.  The new album will be out May 5 via XL.  Along with the album announcement they have released a track from the record, "I See You":

Jai Paul - "Zion Wolf"

"Zion Wolf" was known as "Track 3" on the Jai Paul "album" that leaked in the middle of last year.  Here we have a pretty decent quality version of that track:

Doomsquad - 'Kalaboogie'

Dazed has put up a stream of Kalaboogie the debut full length from Canada's Doomsquad (the album is out February 25).  Kalaboogie is the follow up to the excellent 2013 Doomsquad EP, which featured a track on The Kid Internet top tracks of 2013:

Isaiah Rashad - "Heavenly Father"

Isaiah Rashad's excellent debut mixtape, Cilvia Demo, was The Kid Internet album of the week a couple weeks back.  Here we have one of the highlights off that tape, "Heavenly Father."  The track was produced by TDE's D. Sanders:

Tycho - "Spectre"

Here is the track "Spectre" from Tycho off his upcoming record Awake.  The track continues Tycho's progression from the downtempo electronica of 2011's, Dive, to a more organic sound featuring a lot of live instrumentation and a tour later this year with a full backing band.

Schoolboy Q - "Gravy" (Prod. by Clams Casino)

This track was posted to producer Clams Casino's facebook page today.  "Gravy" is a deluxe bonus track off Schoolboy Q's upcoming record, Oxymoron.  The track was actually produced by Clams Casino.

Kendrick Lamar x James Blake - "m.A.A.D. city (Harmonimix Remix)"

James Blake has remixed Kendrick Lamar's "m.A.A.d. city" from his excellent 2012 release good kid m.A.A.d. city.   The remix was debuted live Thursday night on BBC Radio 1:

Real Estate - "Crime"

Real Estate have released their second official single, "Crime", from their upcoming album, Atlas (Due out March 4).  Added bonus if you are a guitar player, the band has been kind enough to include the guitar tab for the song in the video...:

Schoolboy Q - "Blind Threats (Feat. Raekwon the Chef)"

Album of the Week (February 16 - 22): Com Truise - 'Wave 1'

NYC-based producer Com Truise is back with the new EP Wave 1 his first official release since 2012's excellent, In Decay (technically the first new material since 2011's Galactic Melt).  The EP is a sort of "Sci-fi synth" record, it basically sounds like an 80s electronic record created in outer space.

Trust - "Are We Arc?"

"Are We Arc?" is the third track released off the upcoming album, Joyland (Out March 4), released by Toronto's Trust.  The track is a dark, yet beautiful, piece of synthpop:

SOHN - "Artiface"

You may have heard of SOHN through a series of collaborations with artists such as Disclosure, Banks, & Rhye last year.  On April 7th he will be releasing his solo debut, Tremors, via 4AD:

Saint Pepsi - "Baby"

Here is a nice R&B based track from Saint Pepsi titled "Baby."  It is off his upcoming self-released album Gin City which is out February 25.

The Juan Maclean - "Get Down (With My Love)"

The Juan Maclean of DFA Records have released the third part of what they are calling a "dancefloor trilogy" (the previous two tracks were "You Are My Destiny" and "Feel Like Movin").  The track will technically be released next week, but there was a radio edit of the track posted by NPR:

Shlohmo & Jeremih - "No More"

Shlohmo and Jeremih have combined forces on the new track "No More" and they will also be releasing an EP of the same name soon.  The track can actually be downloaded from NPR here:

Pure X - "Starlight"

Here is the first track taken from Pure X's upcoming album Angel, which is due out on May 5th via Fat Possum.  It's a nice smooth, atmospheric track:

Album of the Week (February 9 - 15): Isaiah Rashad - 'Cilvia Demo'

Isaiah Rashad signed to Top Dawg Entertainment (home to Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, & SZA) back in mid-2013.  Since the singing he has made a guest appearance here and there and appeared on the TDE cypher at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards.  Cilvia Demo is the first solo work he has released into the world.  The tape features guest appearances from label mates Schoolboy Q, SZA, & Jay Rock, and is a very strong introduction from the rapper.  Rashad pays homage to some of the South's biggest Hip Hop artists of the 90s, with odes to Master P, Outkast, and Scarface scattered throughout.  The lyrics and production are both rock solid on the album,  and with this being his first release, I would expect big tings from this guy:

Thundercat - "Evangelion/We'll Die"

Here is the first video for any song off Thundercat's excellent 2013 album Apocalypse.  It is a double video for the tracks "Evangelion" and "We'll Die."  The video was directed by B+:

Spiritualized - "Always Forgetting With You (The Bridge Song)"

Spiritualized is one of my favorite rock bands of all time.  This is the first track released since 2012's excellent "Sweet Heart Sweet Light."  It's being released as a part of a record store day collection of songs by different artists that feature space sounds from the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 space probes, the album is called Space Project:

Wild Beasts - "Sweet Spot"

Isaiah Rashad - "RIP Kevin Miller"

Man, this song takes me back to when I was about 11 and listening to Ghetto D and  MP Da Last Don by Master P.  The title of this track is a reference to Master P's deceased brother and the chorus of the track is actually taken from the Ghetto D track "Weed and Money":

Woods - "Moving To The Left"

Woods have returned with the song "Moving To The Left" off their upcoming album, With Light and With Love (due out April 15):

Shura - "Touch"

Touch is the debut track from London's Shura.  Touch is an incredibly smooth, catchy pop song.  Kind of has a Banks or even Blood Orange vibe to it:

Phantogram - 'Voices' NPR First Listen

Phantogram's newest album, Voices, is due out on February 18th, but if you head over to NPR you can listen to the album in full a week early.  The album can be heard here.
